Always remember to remove solids or thick substances by scraping
upward and toward the center of the affected area. You want to avoid
spreading or smearing in the source of the problem. Avoid wiping in a
circular motion as this can spread the stain into a larger area and
will grind it in. Always clean the spot from the outer edge into the
center in an upwards motion. It takes more time, effort and patience,
but it's worth it! Constantly change the soiled area of the cloth to a clean area (to draw out the stain and to be sure not to rub it in deeper) for a period of about 2 minutes, then blot dry with clean rag or paper towel.
Always be quick to address urine on carpets because once it dries, you
will need it to be removed. However, if you can catch it while it's wet,
mix up in a spray bottle 2/3 water with 1/3 distilled white vinegar.
After absorbing as much of the urine as possible by using a blotting
motion, spray the solution on the affected area and with a clean rag,
continue to blot up. Repeat this several times, being careful not to
over wet the affected area and blotting up as much of the moisture as
possible with each application. This should effectively take care of
it. It will take a couple of applications, a great deal of blotting
and, of course, diligence on your part, but it can be done. In the case
of feces, remove the solids in an upward motion careful not to smear or
spread. Now use the spot cleaning solution as directed.
Red Wine
Spilling
red wine.....if the carpet is still wet and you have white wine, first
blot up as much as possible, then slowly pour white wine over the spot.
Be certain you are blotting up enough each time. If it dries before you
can get to it, call us as we have a dye removal process, which will
restore the color back to normal. If you have a wet, red wine spot, but
no white wine, place a wet rag on the entire spot, ensuring it stays
wet until you get back from the store with what you need.
Paint
Water-based
paint.....keep moist with damp cloths until you can get a wet vac and
extract it. Keep lightly spritzing the area with water if it is getting
too dry to extract. You want to keep it from drying and keep extracting
until it's completely removed. If you find this too difficult to
handle, give us a call, but still keep it moist and cover with plastic.
Very important to NOT SOAK AREA, only keep the paint moist enough that
it does not dry.
Nail Polish
Use
nail polish remover on a clean rag, do not pour on the carpet...Be
careful not to smear using an upward pinching motion and as soon as the
area on the rag is soiled move to a clean spot and reapply remover to
the rag. Be as patient as you can, this can be a scary situation, but
take it slowly and with diligence you will succeed.
Bleach, Chlorine & Toilet Bowl Cleaners
These
types of stains cause color loss. We can restore the color, but first
you need to neutralize the effects of the harmful chemicals. Even
though it may appear the damage is done, actually until it's
neutralized, the fibers continue to be damaged, so mix up a spray
bottle with 1/3 distilled white vinegar and 2/3 water, spray on
affected areas and then call us at 352-236-5577 and we can dye the
spots for you!
